The Cathedral Catholic boys lacrosse team is off to a red-hot start to the spring season under new head coach Brian Cooper. The Dons have quickly made a name for themselves, earning an impressive #11 ranking in California and #4 in San Diego, according to LaxNumbers. With a 6-1 overall record, the team has racked up quality wins against some of the toughest competition around, including Foothill (#19 in CA), Brophy College Prep (#1 in AZ), JSerra (#24 in CA), and Regis Jesuit (#9 in CO).
In their latest marquee victory — an 11-7 win over JSerra — the Dons showcased their balanced, dynamic offense with six different goal scorers. Senior captain Finn O'Reilly led the charge with 2 goals and 3 assists, setting the tone for the attack. Senior Roman Ortega added 2 goals, while freshmen standouts Tobias Kell and Lucas Johnson each contributed 3 points, proving the future is bright for the Dons.

The offense isn't the only story, though. Sophomore goalie
Brodie Serrano has been phenomenal between the pipes, making key saves to keep opponents in check. The Dons' defensive core has been rock solid, anchored by senior leaders
Jake Bloom,
Lance Biagioli,
Sven Chuppa, and
Matthias Beals, who have been shutting down opposing offenses game after game.
With strong leadership, emerging young talent, and Coach Cooper at the helm, the Dons are building momentum and looking like a serious contender this season. As they continue their journey, this squad has their sights set on climbing the rankings and making a deep playoff run.
