Cathedral Catholic turned in a complete performance Friday night, September 19th, as the Dons steamrolled Helix 49-0 on the road. With explosive plays on offense, a swarming defense, and consistency on special teams, Cathedral controlled the game from start to finish.
First Half: Palmer and Cook Set the Tone
The Dons wasted no time getting on the board. On an early drive, quarterback
Brady Palmer '26 showed his dual-threat ability, breaking loose for a 20+ yard run and powering into the end zone for the opening score.
Moments later, Palmer went to the air, finding
Isaac Cook '27 in stride. Cook broke tackles and turned it into a long touchdown, his first of two on the night. Palmer was nearly unstoppable in the game, completing 14 of 17 passes for 320 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 42 yards and another score.
Cook finished with six receptions for 175 yards, including a 61-yard strike and two touchdowns, torching the Helix secondary.
Honor Faalave '27 added to the aerial attack with four catches for 90 yards and two scores, including a 53-yard highlight where he slipped through multiple tackles to extend the Dons' lead.
By halftime, Cathedral Catholic's offense had built an insurmountable cushion.
Second Half: Balanced Attack and Defensive Pressure
The Dons kept the foot on the gas after the break.
William Flores '27 ripped off a 48-yard performance on just five carries, including a touchdown burst behind strong blocking from the offensive line. Late in the game,
William Trask '27 capped the scoring with his first varsity touchdown, finishing with 40 yards on seven carries.
On defense, Cathedral shut Helix down at every turn.
Stavros Hetrick '26 wreaked havoc in the backfield, racking up two sacks for 18 yards in losses. Linebackers
Kevin Clark '27 (8 total tackles, forced fumble) and
Logan Jones '26 (6 tackles) clogged the middle, while
Landon Coffman '27 added five tackles and forced a fumble of his own.
The secondary made its mark as well:
Noah Lauifi '27 pulled down an interception, and
Titus Napoleon '27 returned another pick 35 yards to set up Cathedral deep in Helix territory.
Special Teams Seal the Shutout
Kicker
Brice Bergman '27 was perfect on the night, going 7-for-7 on PATs to finish off each Cathedral touchdown drive.
Back-to-Back Shutouts
The win marked Cathedral's second straight shutout of Helix, following last year's 28-0 victory. This time, the margin was even greater, as the Dons proved once again they're a force on both sides of the ball.
