It was a fantastic weekend for Cathedral Catholic's Varsity Field Hockey team as they brought home the championship at the UC Tournament! The team showed incredible skill and determination throughout, securing five victories over two days to claim the title and remain undefeated with a 14-0 overall record.

The Dons kicked off the tournament with three decisive wins against Mission Vista (4-0), Helix (12-0), and Temecula Valley (6-0). The semifinal game against Poway High School was a nail-biter, but Cathedral Catholic came out on top with a hard-fought 1-0 victory, earning their spot in the championship game.

In the final, the Dons took on a familiar foe, league rival and former San Diego #1, The Bishop's School. The match was intense, but Cathedral Catholic's resilience prevailed, leading to a 2-1 victory. A standout moment from the game had to be Julia Morris' perfectly executed game-winning goal, sealing an incredible weekend of play. With their undefeated record intact and the UC Tournament trophy in hand, the Dons are now ranked #1 in San Diego (overtaking Bishop's) and #8 nationally per MaxPreps. The Dons scored 26 goals over the 5 games and only surrendered 1 goal! The Dons have a tough test ahead as they take on The Bishop's School again on Wednesday, October 2nd at 4pm for the first of their two league contests against each other. This will be the game of the week for San Diego County field hockey.
