Cathedral Catholic Girls Lacrosse is championship-bound after an electrifying 9-8 overtime victory over La Costa Canyon in the CIF Open Division semifinal. This win marks the Dons' second overtime triumph against the Mavericks this season, having previously secured a 12-11 double-overtime victory on March 12th.
In the semifinal, junior
Sydney Ameche delivered a clutch goal late in regulation to tie the game, pushing it into overtime. From there, it was junior
Anna AK Miller who played hero, netting the golden goal with just 48 seconds left in the extra period to send the Dons storming onto the field in celebration.
Now standing at 15-5, Cathedral Catholic prepares to face undefeated No. 1 seed Coronado (18-0) in a highly anticipated match up in the San Diego CIF Open Division Championship. The Dons aim to leverage their experience in close contests as they seek to dethrone the top-ranked Islanders.
