The Dons Surf Team completed their second event at the Scholastic Surf Series Division 3 competition on October 26 at Avalanche, Ocean Beach, with athletes showing great promise and growth from the first competition. While San Marcos ultimately claimed victory over Cathedral Catholic with an 82 to 48 score, several Dons athletes stood out with impressive individual performances that highlighted the team's potential.
The competition day began with dense fog that lingered through the early heats, posing visibility challenges for the surfers. Conditions gradually cleared as the sun broke through, although patches of fog persisted intermittently. The waves started strong with larger close-outs, gradually softening as the day progressed and allowing for more open-faced waves that gave surfers a better chance to showcase their technique.
