The Cathedral Catholic Dons made a statement in their cross-town showdown, defeating the previously unbeaten Torrey Pines Falcons and handing them their first loss of the season. With the 74-66 victory, the Dons improved to 3-0 in the first week of the season, setting the tone for what looks to be an exciting campaign ahead.
The night belonged to senior "PJ"
Paul Jourdain Jr, who caught fire early, hitting 5 of his first 6 shots and maintaining that momentum throughout the game. Jourdain poured in a game-high 27 points, adding six rebounds and going 8-of-14 from the free-throw line to lead the Dons to victory.
Senior
Steven Evans-Glynn III dominated on both ends, recording an impressive double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds, including five on the offensive glass. He showcased his efficiency, shooting 2-of-3 from beyond the arc and a near-perfect 5-of-6 from inside the paint, while also going 2-of-2 from the charity stripe.
Patrick O'Brien chipped in 9 points, while
Luke Rall added 11 points to keep the offense balanced. Junior
"Max" Maximiliano Meza facilitated the attack beautifully with seven assists, and
Kai Carlson contributed five key rebounds to secure the boards against a tough Torrey Pines squad.
