Volleyball | Durango Fall Classic (Las Vegas, NV) | September 19–20, 2025

The Cathedral Catholic girls' volleyball team traveled to Las Vegas to compete in the Durango Fall Classic, widely recognized as the nation's top high school volleyball tournament. Featuring top programs from across the country, the event presented a real challenge for the Dons as they continued to refine their rotations and prepare for league play.

Cathedral finished with a 3-3 record overall, going undefeated in pool play on Day 1 before losing to three nationally ranked opponents on Day 2. The Dons showed moments of dominance early on and gained valuable experience that will help drive them into the heart of their season.


Day 1 – Pool Play (3-0)
vs South Pasadena | W, 2-0 (25-20, 25-14)
Madyson McCarthy '26 (6 kills), Joi Olivia Greenwood '27 (5 kills), Samantha Saba '28 (6 digs), Bryce Buchner '28 (13 assists).

vs Skutt Catholic (NE) | W, 2-0 (25-16, 25-18)
Sophia Johnson '26 (6 kills), Greenwood '27 (6 kills, 3 blocks), McCarthy '26 (5 kills), Allison Dzieciuch '26 (4 blocks), Kathryn Schneider '26 (7 digs), Hanson '26 (12 assists).

vs Faith Lutheran | W, 2-0 (25-3, 25-8)
A dominant all-around performance gave the full roster time on the court.
Wilson '27 (4 kills, 10 digs), Dzieciuch '26 (4 blocks), Buchner '28 (5 assists).

Day 2 – Bracket Play (0-3)

Division Play vs Mira Costa | L, 0-2 (26-28, 20-25)

Takeaways
Despite losing three times to powerhouse programs, the Dons left Las Vegas feeling confident. They proved they can compete with the nation's best while continuing to improve their lineup.
