The Cathedral Catholic girls' volleyball team showcased its talent on the national stage last weekend at the prestigious Volleypalooza Tournament in Austin, Texas. The Dons went an impressive 8–1 over three days of competition, storming through top programs from across Texas before falling just short in the championship match to familiar rival Torrey Pines.

Cathedral opened the tournament on Thursday with three straight sweeps, defeating Brandeis (25-21, 25-16), host Vandegrift (25-11, 25-15), and perennial power The Woodlands (25-21, 25-21). Friday brought more success as the Dons outlasted Dawson (25-23, 25-20) and battled past Eagle Mountain (25-19, 25-27, 25-18), before closing the day strong with a sweep over Austin (25-21, 25-20).

On Saturday, Cathedral continued its dominant run with straight-set victories against Allen (25-22, 25-20) and Plano East (25-23, 25-20), securing a spot in the championship.

The final against Torrey Pines delivered all the intensity expected of the San Diego rivalry. After dropping the first set 20–25, the Dons clawed back with a gritty 26–24 win to force a decisive third. In the end, the Falcons edged Cathedral 25–21 to capture the title.

Despite the narrow championship loss, the Dons left Texas with a statement performance, proving themselves among the elite programs nationwide and setting the tone for the rest of the season.
