The Cathedral Catholic boys and girls cross country teams delivered impressive performances at the 77th Annual Mt. SAC Invitational, one of the largest and most prestigious meets in the nation. Competing on Friday, October 24th, both teams excelled on the challenging 3-mile course that winds through the renowned "Valley Loop," "Switchbacks," "Reservoir Hill," and "Gauntlet" before finishing inside the historic Hilmer Lodge Stadium.

The Mt. SAC Invitational annually welcomes thousands of athletes from across California and beyond, from elementary to collegiate levels, and acts as a key mid-season milestone for top programs.
 

Girls Team – 3rd Place Overall (Division 3, 4 & 5 Team Sweepstakes Blue)

The Cathedral Catholic girls' team continued their strong season with a third-place finish, finishing behind only Sage Creek and Santa Margarita in a competitive field.

Leading the team was junior Callie Schulteis '27, who finished 10th in 18:59.4. Senior Liesel Sellerberg '26 followed closely in 15th place with a time of 19:25.6, and junior Kristine Bickler '27 finished 16th in 19:33.3, giving the Dons three runners in the top 20.

Completing Cathedral's top five were junior Eva Smith '27 (28th, 20:09.4) and junior Grace Keefe '27 (41st, 20:32.0), helping secure a strong team score of 110 points. Additional finishers included sophomore Phoebe Brink '28 (42nd, 20:33.8) and senior Ava Barrientos '26 (49th, 20:52.1), each adding valuable depth to the Dons' impressive group effort.
 

Boys Team – 6th Place Overall (Division 3, 4 & 5 Team Sweepstakes Green)

The Cathedral Catholic boys team competed against a large, talented field to finish sixth with 164 points. Senior Nathan Wilber '26 led with a strong run of 15:27.0, finishing 5th overall, one of the top individual performances of the day in the division.

He was followed by senior Teddy Lang '26 (27th, 16:13.1), junior Conner Ransom '27 (42nd, 16:31.8), senior Andrew Martinez '26 (43rd, 16:32.1), and sophomore Caleb Reid '28 (47th, 16:34.7) to complete the scoring five. Junior Zachary Albers '27 (74th, 17:00.0) and junior Aiden Angeles '27 (89th, 17:16.7) also performed well, helping the Dons secure a top-10 team finish.
 

Freshman Girls – Division Champions (Women's 3 Miles D3, 4 & 5 Frosh-Soph Blue)

Cathedral Catholic's freshman girls team delivered a dominant performance at Mt. SAC, winning first place in the Frosh-Soph Blue Division with a team score of just 46 points — far ahead of second-place West Ranch, which finished with 114.

All seven Dons finished in the top 35, highlighting the team's depth and balance. Adeline Santos '28 led with a 3rd-place finish (22:08.3), followed by Lily Gonzales '28 (5th, 22:34.0), Samantha Chaconas '28 (8th, 22:42.9), Brigit Fairbanks '28 (12th, 22:55.0), and Delphine Rivera '28 (18th, 23:21.0) to complete the scoring five. Lilu Ramirez '28 (29th, 23:58.1) and Emma Sandberg '28 (33rd, 24:11.5) also contributed strong finishes, securing the team's commanding victory.
