FRESNO, Calif. – Nov. 29, 2025 — Cathedral Catholic's cross country programs delivered outstanding performances at the 38th CIF State Cross Country Championships held at Woodward Park, concluding a fantastic fall season with determination, composure, and top-tier performances against California's best.

Girls Take 4th in Thrilling State Final
Cathedral Catholic's girls varsity team came heartbreakingly close to bringing home hardware, finishing 4th overall with 141 team points in a dramatic near-podium effort. The Dons were just eight points shy of third place, trailing Santa Margarita (133) in a race that came down to the final stretch.
After hovering around 12th place at the first mile marker, the Dons charged through the middle of the pack to 7th by mile two and closed hard late. With just 30 seconds separating the five scoring runners, the team put its depth and pack strength on full display.
Grace Keefe led Cathedral with one of the most impressive surges of the day, rocketing from 74th at the first checkpoint to an outstanding 24th overall finish. The Dons also received significant contributions from
Kristine Bickler and
Phoebe Brink, both of whom posted substantial improvements. At the same time, veterans
Liesel Sellerberg and
Calliandra Schulteis delivered steady, solid performances to anchor the lineup.

Nathan Wilber Earns All-State, Boys Finish 9th
The boys' varsity team competed in a large field of 219 runners, finishing 9th overall and once again demonstrating Cathedral Catholic belongs among California's top programs.
Senior standout
Nathan Wilber wrapped up his varsity career in style, crossing the finish line in 8th place with a time of 15:13.2 to earn All-State honors in his final race for the Dons.
Wilber was supported by a strong performance from
Teddy Lang, who stayed near the front throughout the race, and a breakout run from
Caleb Reid, whose improvement stood out on the championship stage. Along with a well-balanced pack behind them, the team maintained its competitiveness against a deep and experienced field.
