The Cathedral Catholic Dons sailing team delivered an impressive performance at the Gaucho Regatta in Santa Barbara over the weekend, navigating a variety of conditions — from light winds on Saturday to an unexpected breeze on Sunday. The Dons demonstrated exceptional skill, adaptability, and determination throughout the competition.
Congratulations to
Sean Kaseburg '28 and
Lauren Grace MacVaugh-Howe '27 for securing a first-place finish in the opening race of the regatta. Additionally, recognition is well deserved for
Patrick Kozak '28, who competed in his first high school regatta in the highly competitive Gold fleet — an impressive milestone for the freshman sailor.
The team also had the unique opportunity to tour the University of California, Santa Barbara campus and attend an informative session, courtesy of the UCSB Sailing team's generous hospitality. The Dons eagerly anticipate their return to Santa Barbara in May for the prestigious Gold Pacific Coast Championships.
