The Cathedral Catholic Dons secured their first victory over the Poway Titans since the 2022 season with a commanding 12–3 offensive display on March 2.
The Dons' power at the plate was the driving force behind the victory, highlighted by a dominant performance from Nia Talataina. Talataina wasted no time, launching a three-run home run to center field on an 0-2 count in the top of the first inning to put Cathedral Catholic ahead. After Poway countered with a solo home run in the bottom of the inning, Talataina struck again in the third, adding to the lead with a solo blast to left field.
Cathedral Catholic cemented their control in the fourth inning when Trinity Lorrain crushed a three-run home run to center field, prompting the team to head out to home plate for a third time to celebrate! Lorrain finished the day 1-for-2 with three RBIs. The offense kept piling on runs with great performances from
Mileva Sesepasara, who went 2-for-2, and
Riley Marlin, who went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
On the mound, senior Mimi Botticelli pitched a complete game for the Dons, allowing just three runs on nine hits over six innings. Defensively, the team was solid all afternoon, turning an inning ending double play and no errors through 6.
The Dons next game was a road matchup against the Santana Sultans on Wednesday.
