The Cathedral Catholic Girls Golf team had a stellar performance throughout the City Tournament, capturing first place on Day 1 and demonstrating remarkable depth and resilience through match play. Here's a detailed breakdown of the team's journey through the tournament:
Monday, October 21: Stroke Play (Balboa) The tournament began with a dominant team performance, as Cathedral Catholic took first place with a team score of 408, decisively outscoring the second-place team by a wide margin (468). In individual rankings,
Ellaclair Leedom '25 took second, shooting a 76, while
Mikala Kinnear '26 placed third with a 79.
Alexa Feliciano '26 also shot a 79 and narrowly missed third place due to a card-off with Mikala. Every player on the team—

Sydney Carlin '26, and Maddie Anderson '27—placed in the top 16, advancing to match play. Meanwhile, Reagan excelled in the 13-hole tournament, taking first place and adding to the team's impressive start.
Tuesday, October 22: Match Play - Top 16 (Balboa) In the top 16 round, Cathedral Catholic's golfers faced off in head-to-head matches. Ellaclair led with a solid 4 up victory with three holes to go, while Alexa secured her match 1 up through 9 holes. Sydney advanced as well, winning her match 2 up with one hole remaining. Despite fierce competition, Mikala fell in a sudden death playoff at hole 11, while Ashlyn and Maddie were also eliminated in close rounds.
Wednesday, October 23: Match Play - Top 8 (Balboa) The top 8 brought some bittersweet matchups as Cathedral teammates Alexa and Sydney went head-to-head. Alexa emerged victorious. Ellaclair continued her strong performance, winning her match 4 up with three holes remaining, and advanced to the semifinals.
Thursday, October 24: Semifinals and Finals (Torrey North) In the semifinals, played on the front nine, Ellaclair staged an incredible comeback, overcoming a 2-hole deficit after six holes to win the next three and take her match, securing her spot in the final round. Alexa played well but narrowly lost, moving on to compete for third place.
In the final round, both Alexa and Ellaclair displayed skill and tenacity. Alexa was down one as she approached the 18th hole; though she fought hard, she ultimately finished in 4th place. Ellaclair, also down one heading into the 18th, won the hole, pushing the match to sudden death. In a nail-biting final, she ultimately finished in an impressive 2nd place.

Not to be outdone by their varsity teammates, the JV team capped off their season with a first-place finish in the final tournament, "The Best of the Rest." The JV squad proudly brought home the first-place team title at the BOTR Tournament, with standout individual performances by Giada Germain '27, who placed 2nd, and Camila Hashemi '28, who secured 3rd place. The future for the girls' golf team is bright.
