The Cathedral Catholic girls' golf program has started the season strong under first-year head coach
Tyler Anthony. Both the Varsity team (6 wins, 1 loss, 1 league win) and the JV team (5 wins, 1 loss) have begun the season on a positive note. With a mix of senior leadership and impressive performances from a talented group of freshmen, the Dons are quickly becoming one of the most exciting programs to watch this fall.
From tryouts to early-season matches, the team has faced many challenges — including finishing a practice round in the rain and by cellphone light in August — but the group has responded with determination and confidence.
Last week was a busy stretch for the Dons, featuring four matches in four days:
• Monday: The Dons kicked off the week with a victory over Westview at Santaluz, shooting a 195 as a team.
• Tuesday: Cathedral continued its momentum with a win against Mater Dei at Bonita, with freshman
Joanna Tilker '29 leading the way by shooting a 37. This helped the team reach a score of 203.
• Wednesday: Although the Dons fell to powerhouse Torrey Pines at La Costa, freshman
Charlotte Wang '29 had a standout performance by earning medalist honors and recording an eagle during her round.
• Thursday: The team quickly bounced back with a league-opening win against OLP at The Heights, once again shooting a team score of 195.
Alexa Feliciano '26 stood out by carding an even-par round.

The Cathedral Catholic girls' golf team has found the right balance early in the season, thanks to steady leadership from its seniors and strong contributions from its freshmen. The Dons are now focused on upcoming matches, including a second league game and another against OLP, as they work to build momentum for an exciting year.
