Cathedral Catholic Varsity Boys Cross Country Team Goes Undefeated to Clinch Western League Title

The Cathedral Catholic Varsity Boys Cross Country team wrapped up an outstanding season, finishing with an unblemished 20-0 record in the Western League. This undefeated performance secured the team its second consecutive league championship, a testament to their relentless hard work, consistency, and depth. Leading the charge was Nathan Wilber '27, who dominated the season and was named Runner of the Year. Wilber's time of 16:02.8, a personal best, propelled him to a first-place finish, showcasing his consistency and prowess on the course.

Wilber wasn't alone in making a mark for Cathedral Catholic. The Dons' depth was evident, with three other athletes securing top spots and valuable points in the league standings. Spencer Todd '26 (16:22.4), Teddy Lang '26 (16:23.8), and Aiden Angeles '27 (16:49.2) all earned All-League honors, finishing in the top 10 at fourth, fifth, and eighth places, respectively. Their impressive times played a crucial role in securing the team's dominant run this season.


Girls Cross Country Team Earns Second Place in Western League

The Varsity Girls Cross Country team also achieved a strong finish, taking second place in the Western League with an impressive 16-4 record. They were led by standout performances from All-League athletes Jocelyn Gibson '25 and Liesel Sellerberg '26. Gibson posted a phenomenal time of 18:14.2, earning her second place overall in the league standings, while Sellerberg finished sixth with a time of 19:08.2. Both athletes exemplified resilience and skill throughout the season, leading their team to a well-deserved runner-up finish.

Additionally, Chiara Bonomi's '25 effort helped boost the team's success. Her time of 19:38.0 earned her 13th place in the standings, contributing valuable points to the Dons' team total and showcasing the competitive depth of Cathedral Catholic's cross country program.


Looking Forward

Cathedral Catholic's cross country teams have set a high standard year in and year out. The Boys team will look to continue to build on their success in the league and make a strong showing at CIF. The Girls team, with their solid foundation, will aim to build on their success and repeat as CIF DIII champions. If the ladies win CIF this year, it would be a remarkable 5th straight year for the Dons!
