The Cathedral Catholic girls' volleyball team had an outstanding showing in Hawaii, going 9-1 overall in their first tournament of the season. This tournament provided an excellent opportunity to try out new lineups and gain valuable insight into team dynamics after losing eight seniors last year.
Mae Kordas '25 emerged as the standout player throughout the weekend, earning all-tournament honors for her leadership and consistently delivering over 10 kills per set. She truly took over matches, setting the tone for the team. Notre Dame comitt Maya Evens '25 and Kalea Lee '27 also found their roles, guiding the newer players and helping them grow more confident with each game.
Sophia Johnson '26, JoJo Wilson '27, and Madyson McCarthy '26, the team's other pin hitters, all had strong performances throughout the tournament, contributing to the team's success.
Despite a narrow loss to No. 6 Cornerstone Christian from Texas, the Dons finished in second place, further solidifying their spot among the nation's elite. MaxPreps now ranks the team No. 9 in the country, up from No. 12 last week. Overall, it was a great learning experience and a strong start to the season for the Dons.
