Girls Basketball Game Recap | Tuesday, December 2
Cathedral Catholic 65, Montgomery 45
Cathedral Catholic girls' basketball made a strong comeback Tuesday night, taking control late and pulling away from Montgomery for a commanding 65-45 road win at 6 p.m.
The Dons set the tone early with an 18-11 lead after the first quarter, but a sloppy second quarter opened the door for Montgomery to get back into the game. By halftime, Cathedral Catholic led narrowly, 24-23. The third quarter was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams trading baskets until the Dons finished the quarter up 38-33.
Then the fourth quarter belonged to Cathedral Catholic and specifically
Mckinley Hanlon.
Hanlon erupted with a barrage of three-pointers, hitting five triples in the fourth quarter alone to blow the game open. Her hot shooting sparked a dominant finish, as the Dons outpaced Montgomery down the stretch to secure a 20-point victory.
Also putting on a monster performance was
Bianca Slone, who played tough on both ends of the floor all night. Slone scored consistently as she finds her rhythm with the team and was an absolute force in the paint, finishing with a monster double-double with 22 points, 17 rebounds, and 6 blocks.
The win moves Cathedral Catholic to 2–2 on the season, an important bounce-back after a tough loss to Bakersfield Christian over the break. The Dons now shift their attention to a highly anticipated rivalry game Friday night at Torrey Pines.
