The Cathedral Catholic girls' basketball team turned in a strong showing at the SoCal Holiday Classic, posting a 2-1 record against quality competition and finishing the tournament with a statement win in the third-place game.
Cathedral Catholic 43, Victory Christian 37
Opening-Round Win
The Dons opened tournament play with a gritty defensive performance, edging Victory Christian 43-37. Despite shooting just 28 percent from the field, Cathedral Catholic relied on pressure defense and timely scoring to secure the win.
The Dons forced 26 turnovers and recorded 22 steals, disrupting Victory Christian's offensive rhythm throughout the game. Mckinley Hanlon led Cathedral Catholic with 18 points, including two three-pointers, and added four rebounds, four assists, and five steals.
"Addi" Addison Yang chipped in 15 points, including two three-pointers, while "Abby" Abigail Rall controlled the glass with eight rebounds.
Westview 57, Cathedral Catholic 54 (OT)
Semifinal Thriller
In the semifinal round, Cathedral Catholic battled Westview in one of its most complete performances of the season. The Dons, who had defeated Westview earlier in the year, played in a tightly contested, back-and-forth matchup that required overtime to decide.
Cathedral Catholic jumped out to an 18-9 first-quarter lead and held slim advantages at halftime (29-25) and after three quarters (41-38). The teams traded runs in the fourth quarter, with Westview tying the game at 52-52 to force overtime. Cathedral Catholic responded late with a 4–0 run, but Westview ultimately prevailed 57-54 in overtime.
- "Addi" Addison Yang led the Dons with 18 points, shooting 6-for-7 from three-point range and 6-for-10 overall, while adding three assists.
- Mckinley Hanlon followed with 17 points, eight rebounds, two blocks, and a steal.
- Bianca Slone contributed eight points on 2-for-2 shooting from beyond the arc and pulled down nine rebounds.
- Khloe Lopez added 10 rebounds and three assists, while "Abby" Abigail Rall chipped in six rebounds.

Third-Place Game Victory
Looking to close the tournament with a winning record and a third-place finish, Cathedral Catholic responded with a resilient performance against Grossmont. The Hillers came out shooting at a high level, led by Jaliyah Flemming, who connected on six three-pointers in the first half, giving Grossmont a 38-28 halftime lead.
The Dons methodically worked their way back into the game, clamping down defensively and holding Grossmont to just four points in the third quarter, trailing by only two entering the fourth. Cathedral Catholic's offense then erupted in the final period, outscoring the Hillers 26-13 to secure the 66-55 victory.
