Cathedral Catholic's cross country team had an outstanding performance this weekend at the first San Diego River Park Invitational, held at SDSU Mission Valley River Park on Saturday, September 13. Competing across six divisions, the Dons secured top-two team finishes in five races, demonstrating the depth and strength of both the boys and girls teams.
Boys Varsity – Champions
The boys' varsity team took the Division 1 title, scoring 77 points to beat the runner-up, San Diego High (134). Leading the way was
Nathan Wilber '26, who continued his impressive senior season with a commanding victory in 15:06.30.
Wilber has been on a historic run, posting the third-best time in Cathedral Catholic history just two weeks ago. He followed that performance with a bold effort on this brand-new course to claim the individual title. His time from Saturday now ranks as the sixth fastest ever in Cathedral program history, further solidifying his fantastic start to his senior season.
Behind him,
Teddy Lang '26 (7th),
Andrew Martinez '26 (18th), and a close-knit group of underclassmen secured the team victory, showcasing the program's depth and balance.
Girls Varsity – Runner-Up Finish
The girls' varsity team delivered an impressive performance, finishing 2nd overall with 39 points, just behind Point Loma (29).
