The Cathedral Catholic Girls Tennis team is having a tremendous season. They went undefeated in league play and repeat as Western League Champions. They then went on to dominate the City Conference Western League Championships, capturing both the singles and doubles titles and solidifying their reputation as one of the league's top programs.
Sophomore
Alanis Huang delivered a standout performance, claiming the singles title and earning the prestigious title of Western League Player of the Year. In doubles, the tournament concluded with an exciting all-Dons final as senior
Lucy Lonneker and junior
Maria Gurchumelidze faced off against junior teammates
Jenna Yablonicky and
Aubrey Yonemitsu. Lonneker and Gurchumelidze ultimately prevailed, taking home the league doubles title in a well-fought match.
With a season marked by teamwork, resilience, and top-tier performances, the Dons are proud to celebrate these achievements and look forward to more success in postseason play. Next up, Team CIF Open Division Championships. The Dons are ranked #4 and will take on #5 Rancho Bernardo on Tuesday, October 29th at 2:30pm at home.Â
