The Cathedral Catholic girls' tennis team is off to a perfect start, improving to 3-0 on the season after consecutive wins over JSerra and Patrick Henry.
On Saturday, August 30, the Dons defeated JSerra 13-5 in a dominant performance. In singles matches,
Aubrey Yonemitsu and
Jenna Yablonicky each earned two wins, with Yonemitsu taking sets 6-2 and 6-3, and Yablonicky winning 6-0 and 6-2. The doubles teams were unstoppable, as
Sophia Miyamoto and
Samantha Rich swept all three of their matches (6-1, 7-5, 6-1), while
Alanis Huang and
Madeline Grace Gazzo also went 3-0 (6-1, 6-4, 6-1).
The team carried that momentum into their September 2 matchup against Patrick Henry, earning a 12-6 victory.
Alanis Huang was dominant in singles, winning all three of her matches in straight sets (6-1, 6-0, 6-1). In doubles, the duo of
Jenna Yablonicky and
Aubrey Yonemitsu proved unstoppable, sweeping their matches 6-1, 6-0, 6-0. The Dons also secured important doubles wins from
Marisa Eiguren and
Selah Scott, as well as
Caroline Cabral and
Ava Zamora, to seal the win.
With two strong team wins, Cathedral Catholic moves to 3-0 on the season, showing depth, versatility, and balance across both singles and doubles play.
