When the Cathedral Catholic girls' tennis team returned to Santa Barbara for the 3rd Annual Santa Barbara Invitational Tournament, they were out for revenge after a 2nd place finish last year. Vengeance was theirs, as they won the tournament in three rounds of play with only three individual losses.
Led by sophomore
Alanis Huang at the #1 singles position, the Lady Dons bested teams from Arroyo Grande, Miramonte, and Rancho Bernardo, respectively, all by scores of 5-1. Juniors
Jenna Yablonicky and
Aubrey Yonemitsu went 3-0 at the #1 doubles position. Junior
Scarlett Lee lost only a single game in her three matches at #2 singles. Senior
Lucy Lonneker and Junior
Maria Gurchumelidze were undefeated in their three matches at #2 doubles. Senior
Aubrey Feldman and freshman
Samantha Rich teamed up for an unblemished record at #3 doubles, and freshman
Sophia Miyamoto went 2-0 at the #3 singles spot.
The Santa Barbara Invitational is an eight-team invitational tournament, hosting high school girls' teams from all over California, some coming from as far north as Orinda. San Diego County schools included Rancho Bernardo, San Dieguito Academy, and Rancho Bernardo High.
