With record numbers and breakthrough achievements on both the girls' and boys' sides, the team has raised the bar for excellence and teamwork.
By the Numbers
- 30 Entries: The highest number of boat entries ever.
- 16 Historical Best Times: Each a testament to the team's relentless drive.
- 10 Medals: A record haul that underscores their competitive edge.
- Unprecedented Wins: Multiple head-to-head victories that had competitors reeling.
- 3 Unexpected Collisions: A humorous reminder that even in high-stakes competition, things can get a little "bumpy"!
Stellar Performances on the Girls' Side
The women of Cathedral Catholic showcased their strength and speed, carving new records along the way:
- Gabi's Historic Run: In the Women's Varsity 1x, Gabriela Serena shattered a long-standing team record from 2014, slicing 28 seconds off the previous best time.
- Rising Stars in the U17 Category: The Women's U17 8+ set a historical best for the third consecutive year, demonstrating consistent excellence. Additionally, the Women's U17 4x team clocked a team-best time, improving by an astounding 50 seconds, while the U17 2x posted an equally impressive time.
Dominance on the Boys' Side
The boys also brought their A-game, marking several "firsts" that highlight their rapid progress:
- Record-Breaking Speed: The Men's 8+ 1V posted the fastest time since 2019, proving their remarkable comeback.
- Head-to-Head Victories: The Men's 8+ 2V outpaced SDRC's 2V by 3.5 seconds—a feat that has never been achieved before. In a further display of superiority, both the 1V and 2V boats defeated LBJC for the first time.
- Youthful Excellence: The Men's U17 teams in the 8+ and 4x categories secured Bronze and Silver medals, respectively, without looking back. The U16 boats also made a significant impact by medaling and showcasing the future of the program.
A Season of Firsts and Unyielding Effort
Every new record and breakthrough is a testament to the team's hard work and determination. The regatta not only highlighted their on-water prowess but also their impeccable teamwork—evident even in the efficiency of loading the trailer despite the sheer number of boats involved.
This record-setting performance marks a strong start to the official Winter/Spring racing season, setting a high standard for what's to come.
