Crew Fall Events 9.2025

Crew (Boys/Girls) | 10/23/2025 1:56:00 PM

The Cathedral Catholic Crew team has officially launched its 2025 fall season with a busy and successful few weeks of competition, featuring local races on Mission Bay and a new event in Northern California.

San Diego Rowing Cares Regatta — Mission Bay

The Dons began their season close to home, competing at the San Diego Rowing Cares Regatta on Mission Bay this past Saturday. Cathedral entered three boats—two novice crews and one U17 girls boat—facing off against several local programs.

Both the Girls and Boys Novice 8+ crews delivered strong performances in their first races, showing promise and composure in their debut outing. The U17 Girls 8+ led the way, securing first place in their category with an impressive victory over cross-town rival San Diego Rowing Club (SDRC).

It was a strong start to the season and a testament to the depth and energy of Cathedral Catholic's younger athletes rowers.

Head of the Port — Lake Washington, Sacramento

Meanwhile, the Dons varsity squad traveled north to Sacramento for the Head of the Port Regatta, held on Lake Washington. This event served as both a tune-up and a valuable racing experience ahead of the team's upcoming trip to Boston for the Head of the Charles.

All four boats in attendance represented Cathedral with excellence:

  • Girls Varsity 2x: 1st in their category, 4th overall
  • Boys Varsity 2x: 2nd in their category, 7th out of 15
  • Girls Varsity 4+ and Boys Varsity 4+: Both posted strong performances in their first races of the season, showing promising speed and cohesion.

These results set a positive tone heading into the team's fourth appearance at one of the sport's most prestigious events.
