Cross Country (Boys/Girls) | 9/22/2025 1:43:00 PM
The Cathedral Catholic cross country teams made their mark at the 44th Annual Woodbridge Cross Country Classic on Saturday, September 20, at Great Park, one of the premier early-season meets in the nation. Competing in both the Rated Varsity and Gold Varsity divisions, the Dons delivered strong performances highlighted by personal bests, top finishes, and a podium finish from senior standout
Nathan Wilber '26.
Boys Rated Varsity
The Dons' top boys team competed in the highly competitive Rated Division, which features some of the fastest programs from around the state and nation. The team finished 22nd out of 37, setting four personal records (PRs) and two season bests along the way.
Leading the team was
Nathan Wilber '26, who ran the race of his career, finishing 2nd overall with a swift 14:24.9—a new PR and one of the fastest times in program history. Behind him,
Teddy Lang '26 (15:31.6, PR),
Andrew Martinez '26 (15:41.7, PR), and
Conner Ransom '27 (15:53.3, PR) all set personal bests.
Aiden Angeles '27 (15:50.6, season record) and
Makai Labayen '26 (16:08.2, season record) also contributed crucial times, helping to complete the Dons' scoring.
After his breakout performance, Wilber reflected on the strategy and meaning behind his result:
"I knew the pace I wanted to go out at, and I just wanted to stay in the front pack, draft as much as I could, and give myself a chance to kick for a top-three finish," Wilber said. "It definitely shows consistency and gives me a chance to actually compete at the end. This being my senior year, it's my last chance to run these races, so I want to make the most out of every one and go as fast as I can." Check out his post-race interview
