Cathedral Catholic Rowing held its annual Alumni Day this morning, welcoming former athletes back to the water for a competitive and meaningful start to the day. The event brought together current rowers, alumni, and families, underscoring the program's continuity and strength.
A total of 26 alumni returned to row, reconnect, and compete, including seven who are currently rowing or coxing at the collegiate level, a powerful testament to the program's strength and continuity:
- Amelia – Rower at Clemson University (Captain)
- Jack – Coxswain at the University of California
- Jacob – Rower at the United States Naval Academy
- Lucien – Rower at Orange Coast College (the "giant killers")
- Gable – Rower at the University of San Diego (Captain)
- Diego – Rower at the University of San Diego
- Meg – Coxswain at the club level near Purdue University at IUPUI
- Aidan & Michael – Former rowers at the University of San Diego
The turnout reflects the program's culture and long-term development. For athletes interested in continuing beyond high school, Alumni Day was a clear example of the opportunities available with sustained commitment and effort.
Racing featured strong representation from the varsity boats, and the novice team also gained valuable experience. The Girls 4+ defeated the alumni four, while on the boys' side, the alumni four edged out the varsity crew after a competitive race.
