The Cathedral Catholic Crew program closed out its fall racing schedule in impressive fashion this past weekend at the Fall Classic, held at Crown Point Park in Mission Bay, San Diego. Facing a deep, competitive field, the Dons entered 15 boats across the boys and girls teams and delivered a series of standout performances to cap the season.
Both the Boys and Girls Novice crews were tested against strong local programs and visiting teams from Utah and Arizona, gaining valuable race experience in one of the fall's most competitive regattas.
The Varsity squads rose to the occasion, setting multiple program records throughout the day. In the Men's U19 2x,
Landon Morales and
Andreas Rull continued their rapid improvement, finishing 4th out of 20 boats in a loaded field. On the girls' side, sophomore
Lyla Milligan delivered a breakthrough performance in the Women's U19 1x, taking 2nd place and proving her versatility and competitiveness across boat classes.
Additional highlights included second-year rower
Judah Presley, who recorded a program-best finish in the Men's U19 1x, placing 18th out of 31 competitors. The event also featured a special moment for the program, as Coach Anthony competed in the Masters division, representing Cathedral Catholic on the water.
Both Varsity U19 4+ boats posted strong results as well, with the boys finishing 7th out of 16 and the girls 7th out of 14, showcasing depth and consistency across the lineup. Other entries—including the Boys U19 2x, Girls U19 4x, and U17 8+—faced the added challenge of navigating busy Mission Bay traffic but still managed to pass multiple boats down the stretch.
With the Fall Classic now complete, Cathedral Catholic Crew turns its attention to the LBRA Christmas Regatta, where the team will shift from long-distance racing to true sprint competition, shortening the course to 850 meters.
The Fall Classic marked a strong finish to the fall season and set the tone for continued growth as the Dons head into winter racing.
